Project Concept

📚 Inclusive Literacy Tutor

💡 Overview
The Inclusive Literacy Tutor is an intelligent solution designed to support literacy development among young people and adults, with a special focus on non-traditional learners and adult education programs (EJA). The platform goes beyond generic AI usage: it combines personalized content generation with a continuous adaptive learning system, actively adjusting to each user’s profile, progress, and life context.

Generic AI tools can produce text on demand, but they don’t track learners over time, don’t identify difficulty patterns, and don’t progressively adapt complexity. Our system does exactly that, while grounding every story in the user’s real world: work, transportation, family routines, everyday situations, driving engagement and measurable retention.

🎯 What Sets Us Apart

  • Real personalization, not surface-level: content isn’t just “AI-generated”, it’s built around each learner’s individual profile (age, context, reading level) and updated as they progress.
  • Continuous adaptation: the system identifies specific error patterns and learning gaps, then generates targeted reinforcement, something general-purpose AI tools don’t do.
  • Cultural and social context: narratives are grounded in the real lives of adult learners, not generic texts, reducing dropout rates and making learning genuinely relevant.
  • Practical inclusion: audio support, progressive vocabulary, and an accessible interface make the tool functional for users with low digital familiarity.

🎯 Goals
Improve literacy outcomes through a more accessible and engaging approach. Reduce dropout rates in adult education programs through personalized experiences. Dynamically adapt content based on real user progress. Promote inclusion across different ages, backgrounds, and learning paces.

⚙️ What We’re Building

  • Personalized Story Generator: stories tailored to the user’s reading level, with automatic vocabulary adjustment and themes drawn from their daily reality.
  • Interactive Reading Experience: highlighted words with plain-language explanations, comprehension questions at the end of each story, and optional audio support.
  • Adaptive Learning System: progress tracking, gradual complexity increases, and difficulty identification with targeted reinforcement.
  • Cultural and Contextual Relevance: narratives inspired by real everyday situations, focused on practical, applied literacy.

🧠 Tech Stack & Approach
AI and NLP for text generation and simplification. Backend APIs for personalization and progress tracking. Frontend interface focused on accessibility and simplicity. Audio integration for assisted reading.

🚀 Vision
Our goal goes beyond teaching people to read: we want to build a tool that empowers people through literacy, making learning more human, contextualized, and inclusive in ways that no generic AI tool can achieve on its own.

Student Marketeer at RED BULL BRASIL
🇺🇲 Driven by an insatiable thirst for knowledge, I have participated in academic Olympiads and bootcamps, such as Locke, where I honed my skills in prototyping and modeling. As a Past-President of a Rotary Club, I continue to lead and remain actively involved in the Garotas na Ciência project. My commitment to science and technology is further evidenced by my contributions as a Citizen Scientist for NASA and the MCTI. I earned a full merit scholarship for high school and taught mathematics in social projects. Currently, I am pursuing a degree in Science and Technology and Aerospace Engineering at UFABC, where I am part of the Rocket Design team. I also founded the Instituto Mello, which promotes political education through MUNs and debates.
Here’s a concise, strong answer that fits the 500-character limit: ⸻ I’m interested in exploring the intersection of engineering, technology, and social impact—especially how systems thinking can be applied to build more equitable solutions. I want to deepen my knowledge in aerospace and emerging technologies, while also connecting with people working on education access, innovation, and interdisciplinary problem-solving.
Right now, I’m working on a mix of technical and social-impact projects. On the technical side, I’m studying Science and Technology with a focus on aerospace engineering, and I’ve been exploring applications of physics and interdisciplinary problem-solving. At the same time, I’m building the Instituto Mello, which I founded to democratize access to educational opportunities for young people across Latin America. Through it, I organize initiatives that connect students to global experiences.
