Project Concept

Team Overview
We are a multidisciplinary team led by Electrical Engineering and Control & Automation students from UNICAMP, along with members of the Apple Developer Academy.
Our long-term vision is to build a complete ecosystem of sustainable and affordable energy solutions for underserved communities.
We bring experience in:
Machine Learning and data-driven problem solving
Software development (Python, Swift, C, C++, JavaScript)
Embedded systems and scalable technologies

Connection to the SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals)
Our project directly contributes to:

SDG 10 – Reduced Inequalities
We reduce the knowledge gap between vulnerable consumers and utility companies by:
Simplifying electricity bills
Identifying improper charges automatically
Empowering users to defend their rights
This restores financial security, dignity, and decision-making power to affected families.

SDG 7 – Affordable and Clean Energy
While our initial focus is billing transparency, our platform also acts as an educational gateway.
Future goals include:
Connecting users to government benefits (e.g., Social Tariff)
Promoting access to clean energy solutions such as solar cooperatives

Problem Statement
We address three key issues:
Lack of transparency in electricity bills
Bureaucratic complexity in dispute processes
Information asymmetry between consumers and utilities

Target Users

  1. Overwhelmed workers

Responsible for household bills
Limited time to deal with customer service
Feel insecure when bills fluctuate unexpectedly

  1. Youth from low-income families

Take on the “tech support” role at home
Try to help parents understand and reduce costs
Struggle with unclear and technical utility information

What We Are Building (Hackathon Scope)
During the hackathon, we will focus on our core feature:
Smart Auditor & Contestation Generator

Powered by Google Gemini multimodal APIs, the application will:

Allow users to upload:

  • A photo of their electricity bill
  • A photo of their energy meter

Use AI to:

  1. Extract and simplify bill data (OCR + contextual understanding)
  2. Cross-check meter readings with billed consumption
  3. Detect inconsistencies or improper charges
  4. Interpret technical documents (e.g., TOI – Term of Occurrence and Irregularity)
  5. Automatically generate:
  • A formal, evidence-based contestation letter
  • Ready to be submitted to the utility company

Differentiator
Our key innovation is transforming Generative AI into a tool for consumer empowerment.
Unlike traditional utility channels that:

  • Focus on revenue collection
  • Create friction in dispute processes

Our solution:

  • Removes technical and bureaucratic barriers
  • Educates users about tariffs, regulations, and rights
  • Enables users to actively challenge unfair charges
We aim to turn passive consumers into informed and empowered agents, capable of navigating and benefiting from a fairer energy system.

How Others Can Contribute
We welcome collaborators who want to:

  • Improve AI accuracy (OCR, anomaly detection, document interpretation)
  • Enhance UX/UI for accessibility and clarity
  • Expand integrations with public data and energy programs
  • Support scalability and deployment

Developer at Apple Developer Academy Campinas
Backend and frontend developer
Originally from Passos, Minas Gerais, I moved to Campinas to study Control and Automation Engineering at Unicamp after being awarded a medal in the OBMEP (Brazilian Mathematics Olympiad). My academic background includes a Scientific Initiation project in Machine Learning (2024). Currently, I am in my second year at the Apple Developer Academy, where I am honing my development skills and deepening my expertise in product strategy and human-centric design.

I’m currently a student of Control and Automation Engineering at Unicamp and a developer at the Apple Developer Academy. Right now, I’m 'tinkering' with a project focused on childhood and adolescent nutrition. My goal is to go beyond simple tracking and understand the psychology behind eating habits. I'm currently exploring how to bridge the gap between clinical behavioral insights and technology to create a more holistic approach to nutritional health.

I am currently working on a project called the Apple Developer Academy, which is based at the Eldorado Institute in Campinas. Here, I have the opportunity to develop apps such as Cursus (Academic Assistant), now available on the App Store, which is designed to help university students in Brazil solve their problems. In addition, our current challenge is focused on creating a social impact business, where we are working on solutions that promote a more sustainable and equitable energy transition.

Developer at Apple Developer Academy Campinas
Designer and product manager
I’m an Electrical Engineering student at the University of Campinas, focused on building technology with social impact. I was part of the E-Racing electric Formula team, working in DevOps to automate processes. I also completed a vacation internship in automation at Banco Pan and worked as a teaching assistant. I’ve developed socially-driven products, including Cursus—an app on the App Store with 150+ downloads—and Vagão das Emoções, focused on emotional awareness. Currently, at the Apple Developer Academy, I’m building a solution to democratize access to sustainable energy.

I’m currently working on a project at the Apple Developer Academy focused on democratizing access to sustainable energy. Our team is designing a digital solution that helps underserved communities better understand, access, and adopt renewable energy sources, especially solar power. We are exploring how technology can bridge the gap between technical knowledge, financial accessibility, and real-world implementation.
